During the visit of our friend Roy (81) from the UK, we made a short 2 day trip to the city of Harbin in the far north of China, right next to the Russian border, the nearest Russian town was the Naval port of Vladivostok and it was bloody cold, mostly around minus 25 degrees Celsius. I have uploaded the photos of the visit as you will see they are in 3 lots, one is of the Songhua river which is totally frozen over and is used as a road and recreation, one is of the Harbin Ice City That they build every year and one is of the Snow sculptures, they also have an ice sculpture competition but that didn't start till the 5th of January and we were only there from the 25th December to 27th.
As you can see from the photos, the Ice City, is made entirely of Ice blocks that they cut from the local river. The snow blocks come from further up the mountain.
